CUSC 'Alumni Spotlight' - GAVIN SANCHEZ

CUSC Alumni Spotlight #10

  • Campton Nation!

It is a pleasure to have Gavin Sanchez be this week CUSC Alumni Spotlight. Gavin plays his soccer at North Central College! Please enjoy Gavin's words! #camptonnation #cuscalumnispotlight #camptontocollege #discovertheadvantagecusc

What has your experience been like playing at North Central College?
Playing in college was such a great experience because I was able to play the game at a high level and it always seems as if we were playing for something. Every game mattered and the stakes are high. I also love how competitive everything was, and with healthy competition within the team, it pushed me to work harder and improve as a player.

How do you think Campton United SC helped you get to where you are now?
Campton definitely helped me by developing my skills as a player since I was 8 years old. The competitive atmosphere that Campton provided really prepared me for a successful high school and collegiate career. With this competitive atmosphere I was able to achieve personal awards such as 1stand 2ndteam All-Conference player in the CCIW, CCIW Offensive Player of the Week, and in high school was an All-Area player in the Tri-Cities area by the Daily Herald, All-Sectional player, and a 3-time All-Conference player. Most importantly, I enjoyed my time with the club. I had so much fun growing up with Campton and made so many great memories and I am forever grateful to the coaches I’ve had throughout my career. Also, the players then I had the pleasure to play with through this journey was something that could not be replicated anywhere else, a truly wonderful group of friends.

What was your favorite moment from your time at Campton United?
Favorite moment at Campton was definitely winning the National Championship in 2015 and 2016.

What has been your favorite moment so far at North Central College?
Favorite moment in college would probably be beating Wheaton College in a PK shootout to advance to CCIW tournament Finals. Wheaton made it to the Elite 8 that year.

What advice would you give to players who have the goal to play at the next level in College?
My advice would be to continue to work hard and enjoy playing the game. Constantly remind yourself what the work is for. It takes a lot of work to become a college player, but it is 100% worth it and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
