The calendar turns to August, and across the world that means we embark on a new year of soccer. A new year of leagues, tournaments, raised expectations and developmental opportunities. All Campton United teams have now been in pre-season training for at least a week, as the newest and youngest Campton United teams began their first trainings in the program on Monday, August 5th.  They joined the U15-U18 teams who have had trained all summer, raising their fitness and technical ability, while also attending showcase events. For older teams, the pre-season period provides opportunity to establish cultural foundations across all the teams, begin to build on players' existing fitness bases, and time to put together the basics of team tactics.  For the younger teams, the pre-season provides an introduction to Campton United training expectations and culture, coaching styles, and opportunity to begin to understand the style of play that represents Campton United SC.

While predominantly a training period, the pre-season also includes some limited outside competition to help prepare for the upcoming season.  In that regard, the U15, U16 and U17 girls teams participated in Friendlies in Madison, WI against Rush Wisconsin on Sunday, August 11th. This provided the opportunity to play 11 vs. 11 outside competition and prepare for the season, which opens up August 24th and 25th for most U15-U18 teams, followed by a tournament weekend over Labor Day for the majority of the club. These games help identify areas for future training focus, as well as allowing players to become more familiar with basic team tactics.

With many new changes to Campton United SC, Boys moving into the MDL (Midwest Developmental League), State Cup moving to the Fall for High School Girls U15-18, Midwest Regional League for the U13-U16 Girls and continued league season and tournament events, Campton United is extremely excited to continue to raise the level of players throughout the 2013-2014 season.
