The journey for a State Cup Championship and a birth to regionals literally ran out of time for the U13 Navy Girls this past weekend. After being tied for 70 minutes at 1 a piece, the State Cup final went into overtime. After the first over time, the Campton girls were down 1-2 and needed a surge in order to force penalty kicks. Well, with a minute left in double overtime, the girls just did that by forcing a corner kick and volleying home the second rebound to tie the game with a one minute left.
In a great battle between Eclipse and Campton, Eclipse came away with the State title beating Campton 4-2 in penalty kicks. It left a sour taste in the girls mouth, but nothing they shouldn't be proud of. This group of girls were battled tested through the first three rounds of State Cup beating Galaxy 5-0, FC United 2-1 and Team Chicago 2-0 before facing Eclipse.
Although not easy being so close to a State title, the girls have come a long way and put in a lot of great performances throughout the competition and the final was nothing short of that. The Club is very excited for their development and their future. They represented #Camptonnation very well and the club is very proud for what those girls accomplished.
