The night was full of information about the process of choosing a college......

On Thursday, February 21st Campton United hosted its annual College Information Night.

It has been a tradition and part of the club for over the past five years. College night is about the opportunity to educate our families about College, not necessarily playing soccer in college. The design and goal of the night, is to provide education to families about how to go about choosing the right fit for college, understanding that for most families, this is the most important decision in the young life of their son or daughter. The ideology was to be able to open up the door and the dialogue between player and parents about College.

As all 150 members found out, this night was different than in years past, it had a different vibe, a different tone and that's because it was different. Campton United used its contact and connections to bring in four college coaches from Illinois. They brought in Eric Luzzi and John Ross, Head Coaches for Northern Illinois University Men's and Women's soccer team respectively. They also brought in Division III head coach Jason Burr, from Benedictines Women's Soccer team and Wes Lomnicki, Assistant Coach for Elmhurst College.

For Campton and its members it was different, it was real conversation with coaches who spend their life recruiting kids. The information was honest, no gimmicks and straight from the mouth of college coaches. These coaches talked about how the college process works, discussed the myths and the do's and don't in looking for a right college. All these coaches reiterated the same message, "Choosing the right fit is important, don't choose a school because of soccer". It was an eye opening experience to many members and helped provide hindsight on what factors go into choosing the right school. It also provided our members ideas and questions to ask themselves while researching schools and finding the right fit.

A long standing club member, who's daughter has been part of the club since U9 (currently U16) had this to say about the event:  "Last night's event was excellent.  You are right, not every player will continue on to play soccer but they do have to apply for college, learn life lessons and understand how important grades are to their future success.  Campton United teaches life lessons that includes soccer.  That is what is so special about this Club.  We are fortunate to have players who will be recruited by D1 thru D3 schools and they will most definitely perform well on the soccer field because of the technical skills that CUSD has taught them but they will hopefully go on and become productive members of society that understand leadership, teamwork and competition. Hats off to the entire Campton Family for supporting our players!  College coaches do not take the time to come out to any club to speak to their players but like they said last night, "Campton coaching staff has earned the attention". "Well done and thank you for your dedication and professionalism that you have provided our families."

Another parent had this to add about the Event:  "Just wanted to offer Congrats to You and the other Campton Coaches/Staff on a job well done last night......The presentation and casual cantor from all the Coaches made it a good learning experience for the parents and "real" information for the players to absorb.......Nice Job to All involved!......Campton's pursuit of Dedication, Passion, and Professionalism continues to grow."

For all that attended College night, it was a experience that will leave a lasting impressing about how Campton United is a Elite Club in the Fox Valley/Tri-City Area.

For those of you that you unable to attend, notes from the presentation have been added to the website under the College Resource tab.
