Stoneman, Hull and Cooper represent Campton @ Region II ODP Tournaments

Three of our very own players: Grant Stoneman (95), TC Hull (96) and Thomas Cooper (99), have been selected to represent the ODP Region II (Midwest region) team at the ODP NCAA Inter-regional Tournaments.  Stoneman and Hull in December 6-9 in Birmingham, Alabama; Cooper competed in Phoenix, Arizona over Thanksgiving weekend.  The teams will compete against the other three ODP regional teams of the US.

TC, member of our club since U9, will participate on the 1996 ODP regional team. Grant, member of our club since U8, will participate on the 1995 ODP regional team. Both have participated in the ODP since U12. Thomas, a Campton player since U7, is participating in the ODP program for the second year.

The regional teams are comprised of the top 18 US Youth players selected across the 14 states that make up ODP (Olympic Development Program) of Region II Pool. Each player is selected by regional and national coaches while participating in training sessions from October thru July and accumulating with final state and regional selection while attending camps held in Rockford, Illinois. At the regional camp, the top players from each of the 14 midwestern states competed for selection to the Region II Pool Team.

According to Ellie Singer, Region II Administrator for the Olympic Development Program, "being selected to the regional pool is a major accomplishment. TC and Grant will be observed now and in the future for possible selection to a United States National Team. Some of these players have gone on to win Olympic Gold Medals in 1996 and are represented on the FIFA Men's World Cup, 2006 and 2010 Olympic and National Teams." Some Region II players are currently playing in Major League Soccer or overseas for professional club teams.
