U16 Gold Girls will represent Campton and Illinois at Regionals in June!

The U16 Gold girls started their Illinois Presidents Cup Championship journey on a very cold Sunday night in October. After beating Lombard Firebirds in the Quaterfinal match, the girls advanced to Rockford this past weekend for the Semi-Finals.

In the Semi-final match, the girls played Defending Illinois Presidents Cup Champions, GLSA Premier Orange. The Campton girls came out fast scoring in the 2nd minute on a brillant counter attack and strike from 30 yards out. They took a 1-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, they stepped up the pressure and ended up finishing off  the defending champs 6-0 in the semi-finals. The win moved them into the Illinois Presidents Cup final on Sunday morning against Palatine Celtic.

In the final, Palatine struck first scoring in the 6th minute forcing the Campton girls to dig themselves out of a hole in a rainy, cold morning in Rockford. The girls responded well, scoring in the 14th, 23rd minute mark respectively, taking a 2-1 lead into half. In the 2nd half, the girls put the dagger into Palatine Celtic side by scoring in the 43rd minute mark and forcing Palatine to really chase the game. The girls stayed organized, defended well,  made some big plays when needed, kept the ball nicely to take the 3-1 victory and came out Illinois Presidents Cup Champions!

Over the course of the tournament the girls scored 17 goals and only allowing 1.

The girls will now represent Illinois and Campton United at Presidents Cup Regionals in Overland Park, Kansas.
