The top ranked Campton United Soccer Club's U16 Navy Boys team kicked off their Spring Season by attending the prestigious Mayor's Cup International Showcase held in Las Vegas, NV February 17-20. The tournament not only gathers some of the highly rated teams from across the United States but also international teams. The U16 boys competed in the top division (Telemundo), where qualifier games took place for 32 teams participating in the same flight. After the three qualifier games, the boys moved on to a quarterfinal game, which they won to advance to the Semi Final. The U16 boys were able to prevail over the number one ranked team in Oklahoma (Oklahoma FC) in the Semi Final game to advance to the Finals against Warriors Elite (NV). The U16 Navy Boys came up short in the finals with a score of 3-2, but come back home proud as Finalists in one of the toughest Showcase style tournaments in the nation.

On their way to the finals, the team had matches against: SLC Fusion Diaoblos (Utah), Capital Athletic Boca 95 (CA) North, Sage Brush Juventus Reno (NV), LV Premier White (NV), Oklahoma FC (OK), and Warriors Elite (NV). They outscored the competition with 14 goals and gave up 5. This year’s team also bested themselves from last years Mayor's Cup appearance by getting past the semi-finals. The next tournament on the teams schedule is the Jefferson Cup, held in Richmond, Virginia. It's the #2 ranked tournament in the US.
