Campton Nation!
It is a pleasure to feature Chantel Carranza of Grand Valley State University in our Holiday Alumni Spotlight.

Chantel is still celebrating winning her first NCAA National Championships Title with GVS with a 1-0 win over Western Washington.

To say the very least, we at Campton are incredibly proud of Chantel; she is an unbelievable player but an even better person!

Enjoy Chantel's words!

1- What's your experience like playing for Grand Valley State University?

I truly have had an amazing experience playing at Grand Valley. Competing at one of highest DII collegiate programs in the nation has not only been challenging but rewarding. With teammates and coaches that want nothing but to see you grow and succeed it's hard not to feed into an atmosphere where you are constantly pushing not only yourself but the people around you as well. It’s this environment that has tremendously improved my game.

2- How do you think Campton United helped you to get where you are now?

I can’t thank Campton United enough, they helped push me to become the best player possible. Playing at Campton, everyday was a competition. Coaches were there to push you to be the best players every time you stepped out onto the field and teammates were there to push you even further. Playing against some of the best teams in the country, the level of play was constantly being raised to rise above other teams. Campton prepared me to be able to compete at the highest levels and knowing I have the experience to handle any pressure that may come with soccer.

3- What's your favorite moment from your time with Campton United?

My favorite moment at Campton was definitely winning National League, not only was I able to do it playing alongside my sister, Alondra, but it also meant that we had qualified for Nationals, making it that more special.

4- What's has been your favorite moment so far at Grand Valley State University?

My favorite memory at GVSU so far has definitely been this trip down to Pittsburgh for the Final Four. Having qualified last year and coming back short it was bittersweet to see all our hard work from the previous year pay off to finally win it all and bring home a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

5- What advise would you give to players who have the goal to play at the next level in College?

My advice for players that would like to play at the next level is to put in extra work outside of regular training, and take criticism from coaches well because they only want you to see get better. Don’t just listen to them do them, after they tell you your flaws in your game try to improve them. Be the hardest working player on the field because hard work can overcome talent and can be the difference when getting recruited!
